Although the term “restoration” as presented here is in reference to those wonderful autos of our past, the term “original marking restoration” applies to virtually any object that man once placed his mark upon and now deems worthy of restoring…. Those details do make a difference.

Universal’s proven truth:

* Restorers often search the world over for “like new” original quality manufactured parts but usually settle for parts in need of a complete refurbishment. The manufacturer of quality parts usually marks them by stamping a logo, brand name, part number or instructions. These markings are often damaged or worn and so poor that they will be lost or in a lesser condition as a result of the restoration process.

* Sometimes the restorer finds a reproduction or can reproduce the needed parts. The reproductions may be easily obtainable, their quality found to be completely acceptable and at a fraction of an original’s cost. However, reproductions are without the original manufacturer’s markings.

* In any case, Universal Engravers should be contacted first, while the object is in its original state.
